Privacy Policy

PDFGem ("we", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data.

The short version

Available PDFGem file tools process documents directly in your browser. The files you select are not uploaded to PDFGem for conversion.

1. Data we collect

Files you process

Files are processed locally in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers. A feature that would require remote file or webpage processing remains unavailable until it can be operated under a separately documented policy.

Analytics and error diagnostics

With the applicable consent, Google Analytics 4 may collect usage information such as pages visited, session duration, and device type. Sentry may receive technical error diagnostics such as the page URL, browser and device details, IP address, tool identifier, error stack, and non-content metrics such as file size or page number. PDFGem does not intentionally send document contents, passwords, or filenames to analytics or error monitoring.

Cookies

We use local storage or cookies for theme preference (light/dark) and cookie consent status. If you accept analytics or advertising cookies, additional cookies may be set by third-party services.

Ratings and feedback

When you rate a tool, PDFGem sends the tool slug, your 1–5 rating, and any optional feedback (up to 500 characters) to our API and Postgres database. The public result includes only the aggregate average and rating count; feedback is not public. Your browser's local storage keeps the vote and feedback submission state and a random identifier until you clear it. To deduplicate votes and prevent abuse, we store salted, one-way hashes of that identifier and a verified network address, never the raw identifier or IP address. Abuse counters older than two days are deleted. Votes and feedback are retained while the rating feature operates, or until an applicable legal obligation or valid request requires otherwise. 2. Advertising

We may display ads via Google AdSense to support free access to all tools. Google may use cookies to serve relevant ads. You can opt out via Google Ad Settings.

3. Third-party services

  • Google Cloud and Bunny — hosting and CDN (no access to your files)
  • Google Analytics — consent-controlled usage analytics
  • Google AdSense — advertising
  • Sentry — technical error monitoring; document contents, passwords, and filenames are excluded

4. Your rights
