FAQ
What is PDF metadata?
Metadata is information about the document stored inside the PDF file, including title, author, subject, keywords, creation date, and the software that created it.
Why would I want to edit metadata?
To add a descriptive title, set the correct author, add searchable keywords, or remove sensitive information like the creator software.
Can I view metadata without editing?
Yes. Simply upload your PDF and the metadata is displayed immediately. You do not need to save if you only want to view it.
Can I remove all metadata?
You can clear the standard editable fields shown by PDFGem. Other XMP entries or hidden data may remain; this is not a complete metadata scrub.
Does editing metadata change the document content?
PDFGem does not intentionally edit page content, but it re-saves the file and can invalidate certificate-based signatures. Verify complex PDFs.
